Dannoura Battlefield

This is the site of the Battle of Dan-no-ura, the final battle between the Genji and Heike clans in 1185.

The sea in front of the park is know as “Hayatomo-no-seto,” the narrowest point of the Kanmon Straits, and the flow of the tides is very fast and the tides change rapidly.

Today, it is popular as “Mimosusogawa Park.” Within the park, there are statues of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Taira no Tomomori, and they will make you wonder about the battle.
